Winter Fashion?

He said that he loves Melbourne because Melbourne has winter. SO, we assume that winter is something that makes him feel good staying in Melbourne!

i luv melbourne because during winter u can get to wear cool clothes!!!

He is actually right about this. In Malaysia, we only have one season which is SUMMER= HOT!

Yeah! Hahaha cause if u wear a scarf in Malaysia people will ask "ki siao ar?" (ki siao means crazy in Hokkien, one of the dialects in Malaysia)

Apparently, Malaysians enjoy the cold weather very much here.

Winter is coming soon!

So apparently winter is coming soon, the weather is getting colder and colder.

One of our facebook page users- Lishan Chong said that PULUT HITAM from old town would be nice in such a cold night (well, it can be understood as any day as long as it is cold)

So what is Pulut Hitam?

Rice pudding is a dish made from rice mixed with water or milk and sometimes other ingredients such as cinnamon and raisins. Different variants are used for either desserts or dinners. When used as a dessert, it is commonly combined with a sweetener. (Sourced from wikipedia)

In Malaysia, it is called PULUT HITAM. 

The actual rice pudding might not be the same as the image above because the ingredients can be changed depends on personal taste.

Nobu- Japanese Restaurant

Food that makes Malaysians feel good here in Melbourne not necessarily Malaysian Food. Like what our facebook user- Dexter Wong. He is from Kuala Lumpur. He enjoys japanese food here in Melbourne. He thinks going to have dinner at Nobu Restaurant which is located in Crown makes he feel good in Melbourne.

Hi, I am Mindy from KL Malaysia, until I was married. My husband is a PR in Melbourne, hence here I am starting a new life in Melbourne. I am currently working as an office administrator in a small local financial management company. It's almost 2 years now and I am kind of getting used to the new environment. Having said that, I still miss Malaysia. Especially my family and friends back home. This is the first time in my life that I have been so far away from them. However, thanks to technology, I can still keep in touch with them closely via messenger and video call. Occasionally I will home make some Malaysian Dessert to satisfy my craving for Malaysian food. Sesame red bean paste ball is one of them.

Old Town Kopitiam

This is what we (the admins) do when we miss Malaysia, we eat =D The Old Town Kopitiam reminds us of the atmosphere back at home especially the plates and bowls, it's like eating at the hawker stalls again.

The food may not be perfect but hey, it's a place we can go when you're far away from home =))

Coffee Culture in Melbourne- Louise Chang

Story/experience by Louise Chang (Our fellow classmate who is Malaysian) who is from Kuala Lumpur, capital city of Malaysia!

The coffee culture in Melbourne is HUGE! So when ordering your coffee, you have to be very specific. Educated yourself via this helpful diagram before you make a fool or yourself! Personally, I dislike foam, so my usual coffee would be flat white. Also, don't take an espresso shot if it's your first time drinking coffee! You'll die!

Luckily for me, my sister was around to teach me. But I used to work in a restaurant and a lot of foreigners would come in and order coffee but not know exactly what type they wanted. Many of my Malaysian friends have encountered the same problem, which is kind of funny. The main problem is that many Australian waiters don't know how to explain to foreigners that they serve specific types of coffee rather than just "normal" coffee with milk and sugar. To Australians it's normal, but to us Malaysians, we only have Nescafe and kopi-o. Haha
